Artist. Feminist. Idealist. Nerd.

I grew up in an Orthodox Jewish community, taught to respect my elders and value the sacred. Now, I’m a queer atheist who hates the patriarchy and loves shrimp. It’s been quite a journey.

Check out some of my work!

How I got here…

Though I left religion behind at a very young age, ritual and learning have always meant a lot to me. From as early as I can remember, I’ve been seeking out or creating sacred spaces, whether that was in a friend’s basement, a Hollywood conference room, or a Greek amphitheater. I’ve always loved travel and spent as much time as I could living and immersing myself in other cultures. And I’ve always genuinely believed in the power of language to transform lives... which may have something to do with my early obsession with Sappho.

Some stats: I have a BA from Princeton University in Classics and Film History, and was the first American to graduate with an MA in Theatre Directing from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London. Since then, I’ve worked as a writer’s assistant in LA, an Associate Director on the West End and Broadway, and a dramaturg and story consultant for big commercial companies like Cirque du Soleil.

Outside of my commercial gigs, I am a freelance director, dramaturg, and writer. It’s important to me that every project I develop merges artistic practice with activism. Two favorite pieces that reflect this commitment: Victoria Rigby’s Girl From Nowhere, with which we supported Planned Parenthood through the donation of proceeds and informational talk-backs; and Foreign Bodies, with which we partnered with public health and human rights activists to raise awareness about the growing antibiotic resistance crisis. (This was pre-pandemic, of course. Now, everyone has learned the hard way about the cost of personal freedom at the expense of public health.)

Lately, my work has been focusing on climate activism, and centering women and people of color in every aspect of my creative practice. And while live performance will always have my heart, I’ve been developing some TV projects that I am genuinely excited about.

I feel privileged to have gotten as far as I have. I’ve found a career and community that lets me express all parts of myself: the introverted, brainy autodidact; the creative, visual collaborator; and the extroverted, driven leader. I hope that the creative industries reemerge from this period of incredible upheaval and pain with a renewed sense of our value, responsibility, and commitment to equity and fairness for all.
